JIM JOHNSON
Born and raised in Ft Worth – I am a lifelong Texan and proud of it. Having an architect for a father and a step father who owned a furniture factory, it seemed like I was pre-destined to spend my career in the contract furniture business. Over my 30 year career, I am proud to have represented some of the most distinguished and recognized furnishing manufacturers in the industry.
I like to think I have a deep understanding of manufacturing and design and enjoy the complex role of a rep. It is like solving a puzzle when I can bring the most appropriate option to the designer or dealer who is striving to achieve a certain look and budget on their project. As I often like to say, ” I understand where you are going and know how to help you get there”.
My wife Gail and I love to spend destination vacations with my two daughters and their families. Along with traveling, I enjoy music, playing guitar ( yep, I played in bands in the 70’s and lived through it), cooking, and playing golf. My wife of 34 years, Gail, is a talented commercial interior designer who once vowed to ” never date a sales rep”…

I am a proud graduate of Miami University in Oxford, OH. After college I moved to Houston and began a career as an independent manufacturers representative in electronics. In 1992, ready for a new challenge, I left the electronics industry and became a Regional Sales Manager for BodyBilt Seating, eventually becoming the National Accounts Manager. In 1997 I became the National Sales Manager for Stylex Seating and later became VP of Sales.
In 2005 I made the decision to go back to my roots and become a manufacturers rep again, partnering with Jim Johnson. This has been a rewarding and fulfilling time as we have built a first class business devoted to customer service.
I am passionate about football, reading, barbecue, and telling jokes! I have a large network of friends and enjoy spending time with them and my family. I also enjoy mentoring younger designers and salespeople and helping them to achieve their goals and aspirations!
I was born and raised in Houston, and then attended the University of Texas in Austin. After college, I worked for Texas Monthly magazine for a few years while pursuing a career in music in Austin as a singer/songwriter and guitar player. My career eventually led me to Los Angeles where I spent the next 14 years in the music industry.
In July 2020, my wife and I decided to return home to Houston where I joined Johnson Simon Resources as a Manufacturers Rep. I enjoy working in the design community and connecting with clients to deliver innovative furniture solutions for their office spaces.
Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family, going to concerts, traveling, and playing music.
Born and raised in New Orleans, La. I still have strong ties to Louisiana and try to visit as often as I can. I graduated with a degree in Interior Design from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette and began my career as an Interior Designer in New Orleans. I eventually progressed from design to Dealer Sales primarily with Herman Miller dealers.
My career brought me to Houston where I accepted a position with Boise Cascade as one of the first Furniture Specialists. After six years with Boise my career took me to Haworth as a Business Develop Manager. I spent 8 years with Haworth during with time I held several position covering Houston, San Antonio and Austin. I joined Johnson Simon in 2010 and have been the Showroom Manager since.
I enjoy art, architecture, traveling and spending time with my family; including six nieces and nephews, three great nephew and one great niece.
